Exercise and How to Manage Stress

A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. Stress affects the mental health of a person. Many things can cause stress. People react to the causes of stress differently. Some people get stressed at their workplace. Among the things at a workstation that can lead to stressful situations are long working hours, working under dangerous conditions, and also being unhappy with the job. Life stress is other form of stress. The causes of life stress are divorce, getting married, loss of a job, the death of a loved one among others.

Stress can also emanate from inside a person. It is possible to stress oneself by worrying about some things. Worrying about certain issues such as the fear of uncertainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can result in stress. Stress is a form of mental instability. This is why people are advised to try as much as possible to be stress free. There are some negative health effects that are associated with stress. Examples are a headache, fatigue, and irritability and difficulty in sleeping. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. The good news is that there are ways to manage stress.

Some of these ways are as follows. Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol should be avoided by avoided when a person is experiencing stress. Nicotine and caffeine are known to be stimulants. These substances affect increasing the stress levels as opposed to the belief of reducing the stress levels. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, however, it is not a helpful way of dealing with stress. Getting enough sleep is one of the methods of managing stress. This is because lack of sleep has been identified as a cause of stress. There are also some relaxation techniques that one might try to help them reduce stress. Majority of these relaxation techniques have been tried and tested.

The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. Stress is accompanied by the increase in the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. The levels of these hormones can be increased further by doing exercise. Even the slow exercises can still assist one to achieve these effects. One can even walk in fresh air. A more permanent situation is the incorporation of physical activities in your daily routine.

There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. One of the direct stress-busting effects of exercise is that it pumps up your endorphins. These are neurotransmitters that induce a good feeling to the brain When someone exercises, they tend to forget about the irritations that they have had. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
